Sonoma County Walbridge Fire 70 Percent Contained

The LNU Lightning Complex fires have destroyed 1,209 homes and other structures, including 212 in Sonoma County.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — Containment on the massive LNU Lightning Complex fires grew overnight, climbing from 58 percent to 63 percent by Monday morning, as fire crews have fought the blaze to a halt in the last several days.

As of Monday, the LNU Lightning Complex, considered the third-largest fire in recorded California history, has destroyed 1,209 homes and other structures, damaged another 193 and was still threatening 3,375 structures.

In Sonoma County, the Walbridge Fire that has merged with Stewarts Fire west of Healdsburg, was 54,940 acres and 70 percent contained Monday evening, while the Meyers Fire north of Jenner was 2,360 acres and 99 percent contained.

In Napa and Lake counties, the Hennessey Fire— the largest of the complex after merging with the Gamble, Green, Aetna, Markley, Spanish, Morgan and Round fires — was 317,909 acres and 64 percent contained Monday night after minimal growth over the past five days, according to Cal Fire.

Authorities have started to release damage reports for the complex of fires burning in the six northern California counties of Napa, Sonoma, Lake, Colusa, Yolo and Solano.

In Napa County, 379 structures have been destroyed, including 274 homes and six commercial (business) buildings, while 37 structures have been damaged. Within the fire's perimeter, 1,051 remained undamaged, according to the Cal Fire report.

In Sonoma County, the LNU Lightning Complex has destroyed 212 structures, including 118 homes, and damaged another 16 structures, while 417 buildings within the fires' perimeter in Sonoma County remained undamaged.

In Solano County, 624 structures have been destroyed, including 268 homes, while 116 other buildings have been damaged. As of Monday morning, another 1,268 structures remained undamaged within the fire's perimeter in Solano County.

In Yolo County, 107 homes and structures within the fires' perimeter have been spared, while 13 structures have been destroyed, including four homes, as of Monday morning.

There were eight structures destroyed in Lake County and none in Colusa County, Cal Fire said.

A total of 2,730 fire personnel were still fighting blazes Monday. Resources assigned to the LNU Lightning Complex included: 277 engine crews, 19 helicopters, 59 water tenders, 46 hand crews and 59 dozers.

"Crews worked today bolstering containment lines and mopping up the fire perimeter," Cal Fire said Monday in a 7 p.m. update. "Dry conditions and hotter weather will continue throughout the week. Firefighters will maintain active patrol this evening taking advantage of cooler night-time temperatures to build additional containment lines.

"Repopulations continue to occur in many communities throughout the fire zone as areas are determined safe for return. Fire suppression repair teams remain active throughout the area repairing damage caused by fire suppression activities."
