Villa in Healdsburg, California

What do Nautilus shells, the Mona Lisa, and the Italian mathematician Fibonacci have in common with this stunning house in the middle of Sonoma County’s Dry Creek Valley? They’re all based on the Golden Ratio. In design circles (pun intended there), the Golden Ratio boils down to aesthetics, creating and appreciating a sense of beauty through harmony and proportion. The mathematician who drew up plans for this home had the same ideals in mind. The result is a five-bedroom compound with sweeping views of private estate vineyards, manicured gardens, and more. Indoor living spaces are dappled with natural light; an expansive outdoor living space features multiple vantage points for dozens of different perspectives. The gem of the Sonoma vacation rental is the bathroom suite off the main bedroom—this spa-quality amenity comprises two walk-in closets, a double-headed shower, and a soaking tub with a bird’s eye view of rows upon rows of grapevines. The Wine Country experience doesn’t get more luxurious than this. Interior Everything inside this palatial compound flows effortlessly—clearly the effect of the Golden Ratio at work. In the 3-bedroom main house, comfy couches in the living rom give way to a well-appointed dining room, which, in turn, connects to a tremendous kitchen. A double-sided fireplace heats both the kitchen and the living room again; it, like the rest of the house, is one big circle. The house really comes to life in the bedrooms. The main bedroom looks out on manicured gardens and connects to that bathroom suite, which is nearly twice the size of the bedroom itself. One could spend the better part of a day in the tub; it looks out on the vineyard through a giant circular window. Other bedrooms are cozier but just as elegant; each has its own bathroom. The 2-bedroom guest house, which shares a patio with the main structure, has soaring ceilings and plenty of open space. One bedroom has a fancy Murphy bed; when it’s stored in the wall the room doubles as a media room. Exterior The outdoor grounds of this Wine Country vacation rental are exquisite. Acres upon acres of vineyards surround the buildings on three sides, unfolding in the distance like rows of corduroy. To access the front door, guests pass through a walled Japanese garden, complete with a koi pond, Japanese maples, and bubbling water features. Out back, manicured lawns and gardens give way to glorious rose bushes with buds in pink, red, yellow, and orange. There’s a Bocce court, a lap pool, and hot tub. There’s also 4,000 square feet of contiguous patio space and various forms of seating. Close your eyes and listen to the chirping birds and the leaves of the trees swaying in the wind. The true treasure of the Golden Retreat is privacy. Other Amenities Simple, elegant touches are plentiful at this luxury getaway. An outdoor kitchen with a gas grill and a Big Green Egg sits between the main house and the guest house, perfectly positioned to prep food for backyard soiree. The main house also has a fitness room with an elliptical trainer, treadmill, step machine, and free weights. There’s an outdoor shower at the guest house, which also sports a unique roof design that becomes a water feature in the rain. A narrow (and sometimes overgrown) trail leads from the Bocce court down to the creek. Location Golden Retreat is smack in the middle of the Dry Creek Valley, a narrow winegrowing region that runs due west from downtown Healdsburg. The home is about a 15 minute drive (or a 30-minute bike ride) from the Healdsburg Plaza, and a 10-minute drive (or 20-minute bike ride) from Lake Sonoma. It is just up a small hill from the valley’s namesake Dry Creek, and the compound is surrounded by estate vineyards. This property is located in the County of Sonoma and is subject by county law to restrictions and the rules set by the property owner with a goal of being considerate of neighbors. Overnight and day time occupancy is limited to 10 guests; events, parties and amplified music are not allowed; rental guests must observe quiet hours between 10:00pm and 7:00 am. If you have any questions, please contact us. Sonoma County Transient Occupancy Tax Certificate #2269N.

Both bedrooms have modern en suite bathrooms. In addition to the 2 master suites, there is one bedroom with bunk beds and a queen bed, another room with a queen pull out couch, and a den with a twin trundle bed. A third modern bathroom is in the main hall near the den and one bedroom. All told, the house can sleep up to 10 people comfortably. The living room with vaulted ceilings, expansive glass, comfortable sofas and sitting areas, and wood burning fireplace opens into a large dining/kitchen area. The dining room table, when expanded, can easily seat up to a dozen persons. Both the living room and dining areas have large sliding glass doors connecting to the deck, and providing stunning mountain and valley views. The copper topped kitchen counter provides a welcoming space, be it for breakfast or for cocktails. Meanwhile, the 6 burner Dacor stove, LG French door refrigerator, and soapstone counters will entice even the most hesitant cook into the kitchen to prepare delicious wine country cuisine. While it is easy to stay in the house, enjoying its comfort, style, and amazing views, the 6+ acre outdoor area is also a jewel. Comfortable lounge chairs, outdoor sofas, and umbrellas bring the living room outdoors. A level lawn provides a green oasis and play space, and then opens to an arc of fruit trees, including multiple varieties of plums, pears, apples, figs, lemons, oranges, and, of course, grapes. Estate (2000 sq. ft.) in Cloverdale, CA
5 miles from Lake Sonoma
Beautiful 19-acre one-of-a-kind riverfront retreat at the confluence of the Russian River and Big Creek in the Sonoma Wine Country of northern California. Six private beaches offer fantastic world-class river swimming in clear, relatively warm comfortable water (about 9-degrees warmer than most California streams) with a reasonably mild current, all in a wonderful natural setting teeming with wild life - - the trout fingerlings will nibble at your toes! Downstream towns like Healdsburg and Guerneville, while charming, offer less ideal river swimming conditions because they are often located in cooler redwood forests. The comfortable solidly built 15-year-old 3-bedroom (all with walk-in closets) 2 ½ bath house (sleeps 6 + 2 sleeper couch = 8) includes a 7-person hot tub/spa, TV, DVR, Wi-Fi, propane BBQ, decks, fire pit, 40-tree fruit orchard and separate Horse Barn game room/beach clean-up station with pool table, darts, horseshoes and badminton plus outdoor shower (no swimming pool or toilet). The peninsula property is located near Cloverdale, only 20 minutes from enchanting Victorian Healdsburg and surrounded by 40 notable Alexander Valley vineyards including Rodney Strong, Francis Ford Coppola, Fritz and Geyser Peak. Just 80 easy freeway miles north of San Francisco. Enjoy a perfect summer day with wine-tasting in the morning, beaches in the afternoon and fine dining and hot tub under the stars at night. In summertime, it’s fabulous swimming and hot, dry weather (limited floaties provided for guests). In winter it’s natural and wild with exploring the river shores, campfire and hot tub. A great road trip includes small river towns nestled in redwood groves like Monte Rio and Forestville, then on to the Pacific where the misty rock pillars of Jenner tower majestically in the sea. Don’t miss old Fort Ross, the early 19th century Russian empire fur trading post, and magical Mendocino, the Victorian gem atop the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Sorry no pets; non-smokers only. Have a great trip! SUGGESTION: Stay all day at Two Rivers as a “destination” resort: Excellent river swimming at 6 beaches; downriver floating; hot tub; fishing (license required) and cray-fishing (no license required – Owner will lend Guest a crawdad trap upon request); game room with pool table, darts, badminton, etc.; camp fire pit; property exploration over 19 acres; riverside lounging; BBQ; star-gazing under Cloverdale’s renown summer night skies; and birding -- best areas are at the confluence of 2 streams at Two Rivers Beach and also the woodpecker colony at entrance on Big Creek. (WARNING: Russian River is part of nature - - always be careful because people have drowned.) *the caretaker's cabin is next to the house, once in a while the caretakers are at the property- you will not be bothered and they don't use the facilities. Feel free to ask them for anything! Holiday weekends are 3 night minimum. Presence of docks on water are subject to river water level.*

Have you dreamed of ranch living? Of really getting away from it all? Then look no further than the beautiful and celebrated Rockpile Ranch. With a history full of Jesse James outlaws, the Pony Express, and Bonanza TV series, Rockpile Ranch is the perfect escape from reality. With over 800 acres for you to enjoy, wake up among the oldest vines in the region and watch for hawks and deer across sweeping vistas with the provided binoculars. During the day, take a walk around the property through the vineyards. Not feeling like moving? No problem, sit on the front porch with a book, the back deck with a glass of wine or nap in the shade on the lawn. Rockpile Ranch is the perfect location for family vacations, or relaxing getaways with friends, where you can unplug and unwind. Being completely off the grid, all of the power comes from a solar array on the iconic barn. Charge your camera (you’ll need it!) by the power of the sun! As you ascend from the floor of Dry Creek Valley, you wind through forests of madrone, oak, pine, and manzanita. Driving along the ridge allows for expansive vistas across dramatic hills and valleys. Approaching the ranch, you enter another forest which opens to the first vineyards of Rockpile Ranch. Through the deer fence you descend through the trees where it opens to lush gardens, sprawling lawns, ordered vineyards and a charming yellow farmhouse with a lovely front porch set amongst mature flowering trees. The Farmhouse has 3 queen bedroom upstairs and 4th bedroom with 2 twin beds. 2 full bathrooms, one with a tub and one with a shower, complete the upstairs. Downstairs, the large eat-in kitchen invites you to slow down, enjoy the view and take it all in. Enjoy a cup of coffee in the built in breakfast nook, or grab a bite to eat at the island. Although off the grid, enjoy the many comforts of home, including a gas Wolf range, dishwasher, microwave oven, propane fridge, Keurig coffee maker, a selection of K-cups and teabags, basic cooking ingredients (or have it fully stocked in advance), plus all the dishes, cookware, and glassware you could need. The living room is comfortably furnished with a wood stove. Sit by the fire and play cards or board games or enjoy a glass of wine at the 8 person dining table. If building a fire isn’t your thing, there is also central heating available. The adjoining den/media room, which overlooks the multilevel deck and garden, has a flat screen TV and DirecTV as well as the internet router. The fun doesn’t stop at sunset! Watch the stars with no light interference through the telescope from the deck. BBQ up some amazing steaks or chicken on the new gas grill. We provide all the bedding, linens and towels, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. Ask us for particulars and if we don’t currently have it, we can provide it. * Please note, the property is a functioning vineyard and staff members may be seen on the ranch at various points during your stay, including the on-site caretaker. ** Also, we do not allow for weddings or events at the ranch, as it is extremely remote and all of the power is provided by a solar source. *** Lastly, hunting and firearms are not permitted on our property. If we hear that you or your party are hunting or shooting firearms on our property, you will be asked to leave the premises immediately and you will not be refunded for your stay.

House (2400 sq. ft.) in Geyserville, CA
5.6 miles from Lake Sonoma
TOT#2463N The Bosworth is a charming Victorian home ideally situated in Geyserville at the heart of one of Sonoma County's best wine-tasting regions. Built in 1904 and stylishly restored in 2015, this home is perfect for relaxing wine country get-aways. The new pool and hot tub/spa are perfect for relaxing on hot summer days or after wine tasting! House history The Bosworth house was built in 1904 by George Bosworth for his wife and family. The family is one of the early settlers to the Geyserville area, and whose descendants have remained in and around Geyservile. George Bosworth's grandson, Harry Bosworth still runs Bosworth & Son General Merchandise just a few blocks away. The house is an outstanding example of mixed styles: it is Victorian with wide interior trim. It still has the large sliding pocket doors intact, along with high ceilings, and original fir floors. The outside shows a strong Palladian influence in the low dormer windows cut through the main roof line, small bay and windows, and sheet metal minarets on the roof. It is a classic example of a merchant's home in a rural area, built at a time when folks could use a mail order Pattern book to choose house plans. This home was built from a Pattern Book popular at the time. Each room has been thoughtfully decorated to bring the home to life and create a comfortable, casual environment for your vacation. Walking through the front door you'll find the cosy wine room to your left and dining area to your right. Both rooms will comfortably seat 8-10 people and are great spaces to gather with family and friends. The kitchen is set up for those who love to cook. With a six burner Wolf range, a Sub Zero refrigerator, and a cozy farm table you'll be inspired to cook with all of the local produce and cheeses Sonoma County has to offer. And finally the TV room comes with a 70" television, two sofas and leather reading chair. The three upstairs bedrooms, two with ensuite bath, all have King beds, 50" flat screen TVs and down alternative duvets. The light-filled downstairs bedroom at the back of the house has a Queen bed and two full walls of windows that look out on to the charming back yard. Outside, you'll find beautiful gardens, a small vineyard, fruit trees, and tables and chairs for outdoor dining or relaxing with a glass of wine. Guest Access Guests have access to the entire house and yard. There is also Wi-Fi and a garden. Interaction with Guests We are available any time you have questions, and our House Manager lives just a few minutes away if there are any problems. The Neighborhood Geyserville is a small wine country town with a population of 862 people. Located on the main street of this charming town The Bosworth is just a few blocks from our newest acclaimed restaurants and bars--Diavola, Catelli's, Geyserville Grille, Geyserville Mud coffee shop, and the Gun Club Bar and Lounge. Just a few minutes away, you'll find the Francis Ford Coppola Winery where you can eat at the cafe by the pool, or their restaurant called Rustic. There are also several shops--Gin Gillies for antiquing and the Bosworth General store for western hats and gifts. Healdsburg is just a few minutes away, with an amazing variety of restaurants and shops. See the guidebook for more information. There are outdoor activities--biking is very popular in this area and our kids love to float down the Russian River. There are also hiking and walking trails nearby. Finally, there are over 400 local wineries waiting for you to visit. Getting Around You'll likely want a car to get here and to explore the area. That said, biking is very popular in Sonoma County and you'll often see groups of bikers on the country roads or going from winery to winery. Other Things to Note Whenever possible we take pride in selecting non-toxic products for our home. Cleaning and laundry supplies, shampoo and soap are typically free of chemicals and harsh cleaners. High chair, pack and play, and baby bath available by request.

Villa (5995 sq. ft.) in Geyserville, CA
5.9 miles from Lake Sonoma
Tucked away & secluded 6000 sq. foot stucco home constructed of thick straw bales & designed in the classic Italianate manner, nestled at the end of a long meandering 4 mile country dirt road passing cows & nature, the house is set amongst the oaks with sweeping views of Alexander Valley. Six bedrooms, 6 marble bathrooms, half bath with a sink from a Hamman from Istanbul. The entrance graced by a cobble stone vestibule entering a classic rotunda reaching two stories; views down the valley & over coastal hills. Master suite w/private balcony, elegant bathroom w/ double shower & separate tub. First floor has 13 foot ceilings. Two fireplaces grace the house, a formal living room & dining room; the other end a great room adjoining kitchen. House is centered around a gourmet kitchen with white Carrera marble counters, an 8 burner Wolff stove and two dishwashers. A gracious 60 foot pool surrounded on both sides by lush grass & lavender, patio w/ seating and dining area next to south facing lawn. Surrounding towns & wineries: Let me begin by describing the local towns that are near our house. Geysersville is a small town that was founded a hundred years ago to support the Italian grape growers and the sheep farmers. In this quaint town, an original family from Geyserville has returned to open a great family restaurant called Catelli’s and down the street is a fantastic pizza restaurant, Diavola. This town is 6 miles from our house & well worth a visit for the evening or lunch. The town of Healdsburg is 6 miles away from Geyserville and has become a hot bed for chefs looking for a new outlet. The well known chef Charlie Palmer opened Dry Creek Kitchen in the beautiful Healdsburg Hotel, Barndiva, Campo Fino, Scopa to name a few. There are too many wineries to name in the area but they can be found on the internet under Dry Creek and Alexander valley wineries. Francis Coppola just opened the newly renovated winery that used to house Souverian. It’s a gorgeous property and should be on your agenda, reservations are needed. House and gardens: The house itself is quite unique & most individuals note when they arrive that the photos do not do it justice. The house is built of straw making the exterior walls 3 feet thick with stucco on the outside and plaster on all the interior; the ceilings are 13 feet high in a design style one might find in Europe. The house is surrounded by gardens, olive trees and grass as well as the natural setting of oak trees. The full length of the back of the house has a 60 foot pool with chaises & umbrellas on decks at each end. Interior details: The first floor is entered through a vestibule paved with cobble stones. One enters into a rotunda that connects to the formal dining room and living room with a large fireplace. On the other end of the house is a great room featuring a seating area next to the kitchen that merges with the antique farm table set in front a second fireplace. The kitchen is very large, 200 square feet with a large prep island in the middle & three other working or serving counters. The kitchen is completely setup for individuals who love to cook and entertain guests. The first floor also features two bedroom suites on either end of the house. Moving up the curved staircase on the outside of the rotunda, one will find four bedrooms, each with its one bathroom. The master bathroom is very large with two shower heads & a claw foot tub with views all the way down the valley. (830N certificate no.)

The Russian River is a promising fishery that offers steelhead & smallmouth bass fishing without having to leave the Bay Area. As a member you have hunting access but as a guest you will be given info on how to apply for the hunting and fishing club which gives you access to 80 or so properties (including this one) for one fee. We have a very unique venue for a getaway that won’t break the bank or require a lot of drive time. Our Quonset shaped unit is a state the art US Armed Forces Dwelling Unit designed for rapid deployment and extraction. So we are cleared to put it near the river for better access for our fishing guests. 16 miles of pristine river by Geyserville on our boats and ATV's The space To see reviews, go to camping only version of this Airbnb listing for this same unit (if you click on my profile picture you can see all the reviews)It has 4.9 stars with your's truly as a Super Host. This is our fishing and wildlife viewing version, and is new... Note: We charge $25 per person after the first 2 people that book. Decent rain the last couple of years has produced some great conditions for a productive return of the sea-run trout. On the Russian, no permanent structures are allowed in the flood plain, naturally, but our unit is a state the art US Armed Forces Dwelling Unit designed for rapid deployment and extraction in the Middle East. So we are cleared to put it near the river for better access for our fishing guests. Unit is ready for night if temps drop, we have forced air heaters and a wood stove There are several miles of river near the unitwith decent holding areas for trout and salmon. This river is excellent for fly casting as there are many sandbars without obstruction to your back casts. We encourage bank fishing and patiently fishing each hole while you walk along the river. Bass fishing is fair to excellent depending on conditions. If you have flotation/pontoon type device or some other vessel, we can drop you off upriver for a float to our place or pick you up if you prefer to leave from the unit and head down river to the next bridge. The river itself is very isolated from civilization in this 16 mile stretch, despite its proximity to the Bay Area. You feel as if you are in a wilderness setting, thanks to the huge vineyards providing a buffer to any development, roads or highways. It is not a river with lots of fast water, and early in the year you may have to drag your pontoon boat or whatever over a few shallow spots. STEELHEAD: The fish average 6 to 8 pounds, and, like all steel head, fight like demons, and are either wild or hatchery born. Roe, lures, and flies all work well. The regulations prevent the use of bait until later in the season, so make sure you check rules before you soak some roe. BASS: Fishable year round, best in spring and summer. We use plastic swim baits or wooly buggers for these fish. The unit has 3 large beds and a fully stocked camp kitchen, Satellite TV, mini bar and inside and outside dining area. The campsite area has a fire ring, 2 burner propane stove, sink, pots, pans and utensils. As previously mentioned, no permanent structures are allowed, so a small shed shaped tent covers a flush toilet and shower. Nothing fancy, it has to be light enough to be moved, but it works. We charge $125 for two, and $25 for each additional guest per night. Geyserville and River Rock Casino are minutes away and the town has several outstanding restaurants, a really unique bar and a coffee shop for breakfast. At press time we are working on having a drift boat for use. I am a licensed and bonded fishing guide. I will advise you free of charge on where to fish, but there will be $100 fee for guiding on the drift boat or ATV’s. We can accommodate up to 6 people, but charge $25 for each after the first two. We hope you can imagine living in this peaceful forested river area and relax, watch some football, swim, play badminton, go fishing and have a campfire and BBQ. Doze off in a King size bed. But it is more than just a place to stay, this is where you can live a little on the wild side. We have Kayaks and ATVs to rent, bows to shoot, and and will even teach you how to fly fish. This beautiful site is the best of both worlds: It has most of the comforts of a house, but the huge OPEN (if you want) unit and its location gives you a feeling you are also camping. Your backyard is endless and you rarely see anyone once out in the area. No permanent structures are allowed this close to the River so you will not find anything like it. Our unit is a spacious $24,000 US Armed Forces unit set up for rapid deployment in the Middle East. It is insulated with a dead air space lining, multiple screened windows ventilation and heating ports. You are screened by its location from seeing civilization, and 150 yards from the main house or any structures. One end of the unit is open at this time of year, but has privacy curtains and insect netting to be drawn at night. There are remarkably few mosquitos in this area. The site is about a one minute walk to the river, which has many miles (16) of untouched riparian woodlands, and always see something interesting. There is also a large BBQ area with a campfire and table. You will need to bring your own charcoal. There is a three burner Coleman propane stove, with propane provided. We provide paper plates, utensils and cooking gear such as pots and pans. There is a sink for cleaning up. The bathroom with shower is nearby. Sleeping arrangements are two large beds, and two couches to accommodate a total of 6 people. Unless you like crowds, ha ha. It is pet friendly, and we have set up a new small fence across the front of the unit to keep most pets inside when needed. As mentioned elsewhere, there is a small refrigerator and coolers, so please bring some ice, which is available in Geyserville's small market. Finally, the mountain side of the unit has a Astro-Turf area with a badminton court or sitting area. We provide camp stove with propane, plates, utensils, cooking tools including pots and pans, and such fundamentals like sugar, spices, and cooking oil. Towels are also provided for shower. Guest access You have exclusive access to the unit, campsite and bbq area and 16 miles of River bottom! We have a shower and flush toilet at the campsite. Wi-Fi is available. Washer and Dryer is also available in a shed near main house. Other things to note Please note due to our unique proximity to the river, this structure and amenities are comfortable but not extensive. You should prepare as if you are going camping, but know you will have much greater comfort than camping would provide. At this time there are two full size beds, but two couches can accomodate children or other guests. PLEASE BRING SLEEPING BAGS OR BLANKETS FOR THESE GUESTS. We provide a small refrigerator, so not much can go in there. So, we provide coolers and you will need to bring Ice available at the local store. You have to provide or forage for your own firewood, the firewood on site is not for use. I may drive an ATV nearby by your site, but not through it, on way to the river. During the summer, the water pump next door may come on in which case we will reimburse you on a per hour basis. (your payment divided by number of hours it runs) Contact host

I will advise you free of charge on where to fish, but there will be $100 fee for basic guiding, $200 if on the drift boat or ATV’s. We can accommodate up to 6 people on 3 large beds and 2 couches. We assume at least 2 of you will sleep together, ha ha. NOTE: The nightly rate reflects the cost for the first 2 guests, with each additional guest over two costing $25 per person / per night. * this state of the art unit is a $24,000 US Armed Service's unit designed for rapid deployment in harsh environments found in the Middle East and Afghanistan. It has a very ingenious closed air insulation lining for warmth or repelling heat in summer. Again, it would be best if your mindset is "light camping", due to this site's proximity to the river, no permanent building is allowed. So many amenities are creatively installed, such as the bathroom which is designed to be picked up an moved manually It is thus made to be lightweight and lacks sheetrock, tile etc., but is functional. During the summer, the water pump next door may come on in which case we will reimburse you on a per hour basis. (your payment divided by number of hours it runs) We do not discuss hunting here in public, but suffice to say we have secret locations at private areas for our hunting club members and guests. As a guest you will be given info on how to apply for the hunting and fishing club which gives you access to 80 or so properties (including this one) for one fee.
