Location- The house is a short (2 miles/5 minutes) scenic drive up a newly paved road off of West Dry Creek Road. You are very close to all of the amazing West Dry Creek wineries (Quivira, Bella and Preston among others) and minutes from the Lambert Bridge and the Dry Creek General Store (one of Healdsburg’s best and most popular lunch spots). It is 15 minutes from the freeway and the Healdsburg Plaza. House and layout- The spacious master bedroom has a king-size bed with a recently remodeled en-suite bathroom with a large luxurious spa shower. The hot tub is right off the spacious deck adjoining the master bedroom. The upstairs bedrooms are large and feature an open beam cathedral ceiling - one has a king bed while the other has two twin beds (which can be pushed together and made up as a king). In addition, each of the two twin beds have a trundle bed- perfect for kids! These bedrooms share a newly done bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. There are large decks off of each bedroom, providing additional lounging space and more opportunities to take in the sun and views. In addition, there is a sofa bed in the living room. We’ve just installed a new 50amp Tesla charger! Activities- Whether you’re a family or two with children in search of lots of activities or a group of friends seeking some much-needed R&R, everyone will enjoy what this home and the surroundings have to offer. House history The Bosworth house was built in 1904 by George Bosworth for his wife and family. The family is one of the early settlers to the Geyserville area, and whose descendants have remained in and around Geyservile. George Bosworth's grandson, Harry Bosworth still runs Bosworth & Son General Merchandise just a few blocks away. The house is an outstanding example of mixed styles: it is Victorian with wide interior trim. It still has the large sliding pocket doors intact, along with high ceilings, and original fir floors. The outside shows a strong Palladian influence in the low dormer windows cut through the main roof line, small bay and windows, and sheet metal minarets on the roof. It is a classic example of a merchant's home in a rural area, built at a time when folks could use a mail order Pattern book to choose house plans. This home was built from a Pattern Book popular at the time. Each room has been thoughtfully decorated to bring the home to life and create a comfortable, casual environment for your vacation. 'Mona, a name given to the house by our daughter when she could not say 'Sonoma,' is a four bedroom/four bath home. The property includes a one bedroom/one bath guest house and is in the heart of Dry Creek Valley in Healdsburg, California. Our vacation home sits on one acre nestled among the vines of Dry Creek Valley including its own vineyard on the property. It is surrounded on all sides by acres of vines, lavender and mountains. Four rocking chairs sit year round on the porch so you can enjoy the sunsets. The back yard has a covered patio, grill, outdoor furniture and hot tub. As well, there is an in ground, solar heated pool (April-October). The pool has 2 shallow ends and stairs that run the width of the pool for in pool seating and has a locking automatic safety cover. The Russian River is a promising fishery that offers steelhead & smallmouth bass fishing without having to leave the Bay Area. As a member you have hunting access but as a guest you will be given info on how to apply for the hunting and fishing club which gives you access to 80 or so properties (including this one) for one fee. We have a very unique venue for a getaway that won’t break the bank or require a lot of drive time. Our Quonset shaped unit is a state the art US Armed Forces Dwelling Unit designed for rapid deployment and extraction. Decent rain the last couple of years has produced some great conditions for a productive return of the sea-run trout. On the Russian, no permanent structures are allowed in the flood plain, naturally, but our unit is a state the art US Armed Forces Dwelling Unit designed for rapid deployment and extraction in the Middle East. So we are cleared to put it near the river for better access for our fishing guests. Unit is ready for night if temps drop, we have forced air heaters and a wood stove There are several miles of river near the unitwith decent holding areas for trout and salmon. This river is excellent for fly casting as there are many sandbars without obstruction to your back casts. We encourage bank fishing and patiently fishing each hole while you walk along the river. Bass fishing is fair to excellent depending on conditions. If you have flotation/pontoon type device or some other vessel, we can drop you off upriver for a float to our place or pick you up if you prefer to leave from the unit and head down river to the next bridge. The river itself is very isolated from civilization in this 16 mile stretch, despite its proximity to the Bay Area. You feel as if you are in a wilderness setting, thanks to the huge vineyards providing a buffer to any development, roads or highways. It is not a river with lots of fast water, and early in the year you may have to drag your pontoon boat or whatever over a few shallow spots. STEELHEAD: The fish average 6 to 8 pounds, and, like all steel head, fight like demons, and are either wild or hatchery born. Roe, lures, and flies all work well. The regulations prevent the use of bait until later in the season, so make sure you check rules before you soak some roe. BASS: Fishable year round, best in spring and summer. We use plastic swim baits or wooly buggers for these fish. The unit has 3 large beds and a fully stocked camp kitchen, Satellite TV, mini bar and inside and outside dining area. The campsite area has a fire ring, 2 burner propane stove, sink, pots, pans and utensils. As previously mentioned, no permanent structures are allowed, so a small shed shaped tent covers a flush toilet and shower. Nothing fancy, it has to be light enough to be moved, but it works. We charge $125 for two, and $25 for each additional guest per night. Geyserville and River Rock Casino are minutes away and the town has several outstanding restaurants, a really unique bar and a coffee shop for breakfast. At press time we are working on having a drift boat for use. I am a licensed and bonded fishing guide. I will advise you free of charge on where to fish, but there will be $100 fee for guiding on the drift boat or ATV’s. We can accommodate up to 6 people, but charge $25 for each after the first two. You are screened by its location from seeing civilization, and 150 yards from the main house or any structures. One end of the unit is open at this time of year, but has privacy curtains and insect netting to be drawn at night. There are remarkably few mosquitos in this area. The site is about a one minute walk to the river, which has many miles (16) of untouched riparian woodlands, and always see something interesting. There is also a large BBQ area with a campfire and table. You will need to bring your own charcoal. There is a three burner Coleman propane stove, with propane provided. We provide paper plates, utensils and cooking gear such as pots and pans. There is a sink for cleaning up. The bathroom with shower is nearby. Sleeping arrangements are two large beds, and two couches to accommodate a total of 6 people. Unless you like crowds, ha ha. It is pet friendly, and we have set up a new small fence across the front of the unit to keep most pets inside when needed. As mentioned elsewhere, there is a small refrigerator and coolers, so please bring some ice, which is available in Geyserville's small market. Finally, the mountain side of the unit has a Astro-Turf area with a badminton court or sitting area. We provide camp stove with propane, plates, utensils, cooking tools including pots and pans, and such fundamentals like sugar, spices, and cooking oil. Towels are also provided for shower. Guest access You have exclusive access to the unit, campsite and bbq area and 16 miles of River bottom! We have a shower and flush toilet at the campsite. Wi-Fi is available. Other things to note Please note due to our unique proximity to the river, this structure and amenities are comfortable but not extensive. Our property is part of a network of 80 Hunting clubs and you can join our network or stay as a potential member. As a guest you will be given info on how to apply for the hunting and fishing club which gives you access to 80 or so properties (including this one) for one fee. NO MOSQUITOS! Running water, electricity, DirectTV, all cooking gear, it's glamping (glamorous camping) at its finest. You have the best of both worlds, you feel like you are camping, but has all the amenities found you would miss. Unit is ready for night if temps drop, we have forced air heaters and a wood stove. It's not just glamping: explore your wild side, we have Kayaks, ATVs, a Drift Boat, an 8 wheel amphibious vehicle to go river and winery touring, archery equipment, and I will teach you to fly fish and/or shoot a bow. The Russian River is the main attraction but the Casino and the village of Geyserville with 4 restaurants and 2 convenience stores are only minutes away. Wine tasting at Zialena is adjacent to the property and many wineries are nearby. Fishing is good to excellent for small mouth bass and steelhead trout. Kayaking and the best swimming river in California! Kayak rentals are available as well as river shuttles for an excellent kayak run! There are several miles of river near the lodge with decent holding areas for trout and salmon. This river is excellent for fly casting as there are many sandbars without obstruction to your back casts. We encourage bank fishing and patiently fishing each hole while you walk along the river. If you have flotation/pontoon type device or some other vessel, we can drop you off upriver for a float to our place or pick you up if you prefer to leave from the Unit and head down river to the next bridge. The river itself is very isolated from civilization in this 16 mile stretch, despite its proximity to the Bay Area. You feel as if you are in a wilderness setting, thanks to the huge vineyards providing a buffer to any development, roads or highways. It is not a river with lots of fast water, and early in the year you may have to drag your pontoon boat or whatever over a few shallow spots. The fish average 6 to 8 pounds, and, like all steel head, fight like demons, and are either wild or hatchery born. Roe, lures, and flies all work well. The regulations prevent the use of bait until later in the season, so make sure you check rules before you soak some roe. The lodge unit has three large beds and a fully stocked camp kitchen, Satellite TV, mini bar and inside and outside dining area. The campsite area has a fire ring, 3 burner propane stove, sink, pots, pans and utensils. As previously mentioned, no permanent structures are allowed, so a small shed shaped tent covers a flush toilet and heated shower. Nothing fancy, it has to be light enough to be moved, but it works. Geyserville and River Rock Casino are minutes away and the town has several outstanding restaurants, a really unique bar and a coffee shop for breakfast. The Casino's food is good to great, too, as a buffet. I am a licensed and bonded fishing guide. I will advise you free of charge on where to fish, but there will be $100 fee for basic guiding, $200 if on the drift boat or ATV’s. We can accommodate up to 6 people on 3 large beds and 2 couches. We assume at least 2 of you will sleep together, ha ha. NOTE: The nightly rate reflects the cost for the first 2 guests, with each additional guest over two costing $25 per person / per night. * this state of the art unit is a $24,000 US Armed Service's unit designed for rapid deployment in harsh environments found in the Middle East and Afghanistan. It has a very ingenious closed air insulation lining for warmth or repelling heat in summer. Again, it would be best if your mindset is "light camping", due to this site's proximity to the river, no permanent building is allowed. So many amenities are creatively installed, such as the bathroom which is designed to be picked up an moved manually It is thus made to be lightweight and lacks sheetrock, tile etc., but is functional. During the summer, the water pump next door may come on in which case we will reimburse you on a per hour basis. (your payment divided by number of hours it runs) We do not discuss hunting here in public, but suffice to say we have secret locations at private areas for our hunting club members and guests.
